AUTHOR WALKS

Walk by faith and not by sight.

Getting out of your head and into your heart.

THE WORK BENEATH THE WORK

The mind cannot solve what the mind created.

Ultra marathons teach you something that no boardroom ever will. At mile forty, the performance mind shuts down. The strategist, the optimizer, the one who manages how he is perceived — he goes quiet. Not because he gave up. Because the body outlasted him.

Walking the Camino teaches you the same thing, slower. Across days, not hours. The noise that feels essential — the planning, the replaying, the constructing of narratives — begins to thin. Terrain does not care about your title. The path does not negotiate. You either walk it or you don’t.

What those who practice Vipassana know — and what pilgrims discover without being told — is that the vessel must be emptied before anything true can enter it. You cannot pour insight into a mind already full of its own conclusions. The silence that comes from sustained movement in nature is not emptiness. It is readiness. It is the condition under which clarity — real clarity, not the performed kind — becomes possible. Solutions to problems that have followed you for decades arrive not as revelations but as quiet recognitions. Of course. I already knew this. I just couldn’t hear it.

This is not a retreat. It is not a coaching programme with scenery. It is the way out of performance addiction.

WHAT A WALK IS

Walking together. Thinking alone.

Author Walks take place on some of Europe’s most demanding and most honest terrain. The Camino del Norte, the Camino Primitivo, the Camino Sanabrés, the GR11 across the Pyrenees. For a single day, a monastery — two nights, one full day, silence and conversation in equal measure.

Each day includes deliberate solo time on the path — space to walk with your own thoughts, at your own pace, without the obligation of conversation. At the end of each day, you meet again. What surfaces during those hours alone is often what the walk is actually about. The conversations that follow tend to be different in quality from anything that happens in a room.

DURATION

1 day to 28 days. The season and your readiness determine what is possible.

STRUCTURE

Solo time built into every day. No agenda. No itinerary imposed on the interior work.

WHAT IS INCLUDED

The walk itself. Travel and accommodation are arranged and funded separately by the participant.

AVAILABILITY

The path has its own seasons.

Author Walks take place during two windows each year: April through June and September through October. These are the months the terrain is honest without being punishing. Outside these windows, walks are not available.

A maximum of 5 slots are available per year. Priority is given to longer walks. A 28-day walk takes a season. The commitment required — from both sides — is real.

“If you are considering a shorter walk, know that longer slots are filled first. This is not scarcity as a device. Five slots across an entire year is simply the truth of what is possible when the work is taken seriously.”

PHYSICAL READINESS

This is not a race. But the path is real.

A single day on a monastery’s grounds is accessible to most. Walking twenty kilometres a day across mountain terrain for four weeks is not. Both are available. Neither is dressed up as something it isn’t.

For any walk of more than three days, physical fitness is not optional — it is the foundation the rest of the work stands on. The application process includes an honest conversation about this. What your body can sustain determines what the path can offer. If your fitness level requires adjustments on the route, those adjustments will be made. The depth of the experience matters more than the distance covered.

The author reserves the right to adapt any walk to match the participant’s physical reality. This is not a concession. It is the walk protecting itself.

THE INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF

The longer you walk, the less each blister costs.

Because the work deepens. And the path earns it.

If you have completed a paid Author Talk, that investment is not separate from this one.

1–3 day walks: 50% of your Author Talk fee is credited toward the walk. 4+ day walks: 100% of your Author Talk fee is credited toward the walk.

The talk and the walk are part of the same path. The credit reflects that.

HOW THIS WORKS

First talk, then walk.

An Author Talk is the entry point. Not because it is a prerequisite to be checked off — but because it is the only way to know whether a walk together makes sense. The talk establishes something that cannot be established on a page: whether the work is ready, and whether the path aligns.

Completing an Author Talk does not mean you will be invited for a walk. The invitation, if it comes, comes from the author — privately, when the timing is right. There is no application for this. There is no waitlist. It either becomes a possibility through the conversation, or it doesn’t.

The Author Talk is not a funnel. It is what makes the walk possible — if the work is ready, and the path aligns.
