WHY THIS EXISTS
The work in these books
began as a wound.
Everything written in the trilogy traces back to what happened to the author himself when he was still a child. To the things that can happen to a child when the adults in the room are still hurting themselves. The protective armor that gets built in those early years — the performance, the control, the achievement, the distance — is not a character flaw. It was a survival decision that arrived before the child could read.
Once that armor is activated, it gets lonely inside. The man wearing it moves through the world as a lone warrior — capable, driven, unreachable. That loneliness has a mirror: the child who has lost everyone. The orphan who wakes up without a family, without a name that belongs to someone, without a hand to reach for. The armor and the orphanage are different circumstances. The interior experience is not as different as we would like to believe. This is why orphanages and family support are part of what Send Me covers.
Some of those children are now executives. Some are still children. Some are in circumstances where no book and no conversation will reach them — because their immediate safety has not yet been secured. Because no one has shown up for them yet.
Children are not for sale. They are not collateral damage. They are not the price a family pays for wounds that were never healed. This is why support extends beyond trauma recovery to organisations working directly against trafficking and exploitation — the most brutal end of what happens when no one intervenes.
And it extends to adults still carrying what was handed to them before they had a choice. Because an unhealed wound does not stay still. It moves. It finds the next generation. Supporting recovery in adults is not separate from protecting children. It is how the chain gets broken.
As a participant in any programme — Author Talks, Inner Circle, or Author Walks — you are invited to indicate where your share of Send Me should go. You know where it hurt most. You know what was missing. Directing your share there is part of the journey.
THE COMMITMENT
10% of every offering.
Every time.
Ten percent of revenue from every book, every Author Talk, every Author Walk, and every Inner Circle membership is directed toward organisations working in child protection and trauma recovery. Not a portion of profit. Of revenue. The commitment does not wait for a comfortable quarter.
The Emergency Access fee for Author Talks is donated in full. Every cent of it. Emergency access exists for people in acute need. That the fee itself serves those in acute need elsewhere is not incidental. It is the point.
These are not marketing gestures.
They are what this work demands of itself.
WHERE IT GOES
Four areas of work.
No permanent partners.
No formal partnership agreements are in place with any organisation. This is a deliberate choice — not an evasion, but a commitment to staying responsive. An official partnership creates obligations in both directions that can compromise the independence of what gets funded and when. The flexibility to direct resources where they are most needed, at the time they are most needed, matters more than the credibility of a logo on a page.
CHILD PROTECTION
Organisations working to locate, recover, and protect children from trafficking and exploitation — including those operating directly in the field alongside law enforcement.
TRAUMA RECOVERY
Organisations providing long-term recovery support for survivors of childhood trauma and abuse — with particular attention to those whose suffering has gone unrecognised longest.
FAMILY STABILITY
Organisations offering foster care support, adoption services, and family intervention — creating safe structures for children who no longer have them, or who never did.
SANCTUARY
Organisations providing physical sanctuary and healing environments for trauma survivors — spaces where recovery is not an appointment but a way of living.
TRANSPARENCY
You will know exactly
where the money went.
Every time.
For Author Talk participants: a confirmation of where the donation from your session was directed is sent to you directly. Not a vague statement. A specific destination.
There is no annual report published here. No percentages-of-percentages. No administrative overhead presented as generosity. The accounting is private. The commitment is not.
The wound got you here. The work continues.
A share of your investment goes to those who are in urgent need of someone to stand up for them — unconditionally.
